Triangle Club Scott, Louisiana <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Time &#8211; 1992 <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Radio DJ &#8211; Camey Doucet <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Triangle Club<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a good night sleep at a Carlean hotel I was up early listening to the radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the show I heard the DJ talking about a Cajun happening that afternoon at the <em>Triangle Club<\/em> located in a town called <em>Scott<\/em> .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having studied my map for a while, I set off and arrived at the club. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pulling up in the car park I could hear the music throbbing through the walls of yet another rundown building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although the place looked uninviting, I had come a long way to search for my young act, so there was no choice but to get on the front foot and venture in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"630\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Triangle-Club-1992.png?resize=1024%2C630&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2937\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Triangle-Club-1992.png?resize=1024%2C630&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Triangle-Club-1992.png?resize=300%2C185&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Triangle-Club-1992.png?resize=768%2C472&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/Triangle-Club-1992.png?w=1400&amp;ssl=1 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>The Triangle Club Scott Louisiana 1992<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On entering the front door from the bright daylight outside, into the darkly lit inside of the club, my vision was reduced. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Luck was with me, someone was leaving just as I entered into the doorway, which made me aware that there was a large step down just inside the door; this could have been a catastrophe of epic proportions, with me missing the step, tripping and charging towards the bar, head down like a Matadors bull, hardly a dignified entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I casually strolled to the bar trying to look inconspicuous and in total control, my eyes were now becoming accustomed to the light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Near Miss<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was a band playing on stage and man, were they loud? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So loud I wasn\u2019t sure if they were playing Cajun or reggae or just tuning up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I found a seat at the bar and sat down, between the songs, when the barman could hear me, I ordered a beer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What little conversation I could hear was taking place in French Creole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I asked a guy sitting to my right, in English, if he knew the name of the band playing,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDon\u2019t know, don\u2019t care.&#8221; He replied curtly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band were just announcing their next song, I took a large mouthful of beer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having just swallowed the beer the woman standing behind me leaned forward about an inch from my ear and let out the loudest rebel yell I had ever heard. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Had this happened a fraction of a second earlier the mouthful of beer would have shot out like water from a fireman\u2019s hose and hit the back of the head of the guy in front of me, no doubt causing me to be involved in some kind of major fracas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lady Luck was truly looking after me that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The band on stage weren\u2019t burdened by talent and were less than impressive, I figured I had pushed my luck far enough for one day, it was time to drink up and leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After several more days of trudging around second-rate clubs looking at second-rate bands, I came to the conclusion this was not the way to discover my new star, the major artist I was looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So far, I really wasn\u2019t enjoying my trip to Louisiana, it was really quite disappointing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I decided to give up and head back to Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Back to Texas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the drive back I tuned into a Cajun radio station to, the DJ was a guy called Camey Doucet. <\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Camey-Doucet.jpg?resize=259%2C194&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3410\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Camey Doucet<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had a light bulb moment, Camey Doucet must know a great deal about the local bands and artists, he could be the key to the door I was trying to open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deciding it was time to stop, I checked into a hotel in Lake Charles for the night and tried to make contact with Camey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I called the Radio station and spoke to his secretary, I explained who I was and why I was in Louisiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She told me that Camey was on air but she would tell him I had called and she assured me that she would have him call me back when he had finished the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before too long he returned my call and I related my entire story to him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without hesitation he said,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWell, there is only one kid I can think of that fits the description you\u2019re looking for, that&#8217;s <em>Toby Tomera<\/em>, he&#8217;s sixteen years old and is about as talented as you can get.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He kindly gave me a couple of contact numbers and suggested I mention that<em> <\/em>Camey<em> <\/em>said to call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I thought I had struck gold&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Triangle-Club.jpg?resize=1024%2C585&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2569\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Triangle-Club.jpg?resize=1024%2C585&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Triangle-Club.jpg?resize=300%2C171&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Triangle-Club.jpg?resize=768%2C439&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/Triangle-Club.jpg?w=1400&amp;ssl=1 1400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The Triangle Club, Scott LA Today<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Roddie Romero Don&#039;t Sleep Tonight (Don&#039;t Pas Ce Soir)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9wAZ2aLcp9I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
