They wanted to hear the hits not the mostly out of tune progressive improvisations he was attempting. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acknowledging the tension from the audience he spoke into the mic saying, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">You wanna hear those old songs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou wanna hear all those old songs, damn!\u201d and reluctantly started to try and win the crowd over. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were flashes of genius but unfortunately the once great performer was indulging in his legendary persona.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of his act smoke started to fill the stage; everyone thought the stage was on fire as unease spread quickly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Macero\u2019s words earlier that day echoed in my thoughts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"900\" height=\"478\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/I-O-W-Stage-on-fire-1-1.jpg?resize=900%2C478&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3725\" style=\"width:840px;height:446px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/I-O-W-Stage-on-fire-1-1.jpg?w=900&amp;ssl=1 900w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/I-O-W-Stage-on-fire-1-1.jpg?resize=300%2C159&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.kennydenton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/I-O-W-Stage-on-fire-1-1.jpg?resize=768%2C408&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em><span class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">One Hot Act<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It turned out it was a lighted flare that had landed on the top of the stage, which had been thrown by someone in the crowd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When the confusion died down the evening continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The only real event of Hendrix being on stage that night was it was captured on film for the history archives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jimi Hendrix dies <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the 18th&nbsp;of September, nineteen days later, I awoke to the news that Jimi Hendrix was DEAD; Macero&#8217;s prophetic warning came flooding back. I did wonder if he really did know something that day? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I believe if Hendrix had lived he would have slowly disappeared from the limelight into obscurity, ending up playing to diminutive audiences in small town bars in and around the USA.
